BL21-Gold (DE3) Competent Cells from Agilent Technologies are designed for high-level protein expression using T7 RNA polymerase-based systems. These E. coli cells are deficient in both lon and ompT proteases, reducing degradation of expressed proteins, and are suitable for cloning and expression of recombinant proteins. The DE3 lysogen carries the gene for T7 RNA polymerase under control of the lacUV5 promoter, enabling IPTG-inducible expression of target genes cloned in T7 promoter-based vectors. The cells are optimized for high transformation efficiency and robust protein production, making them ideal for research and industrial applications requiring reliable protein expression.
